Canada Thistle
Cirsium arvense
Season: Summer
Habitat: Disturbed Ground
Height: Up to 150 cm
Description: Similar in appearance to the bull thistle, Canada thistle is more delicate, but also well armed. The pinkish-purple flowers also grow atop a thorny ball, but the ball is small and often hidden behind the pleasant petals of the ray florets. Also, like the bull thistle, it is an introduced plant, native to Europe. Look for it in disturbed sites, and along roadways. (http://www.mountainnature.com/)
