An open letter to educators

This is an entertaining watch (although a little obnoxious) and certainly telling of how things need to change in the way education is traditionally delivered.

Interesting ideas. But we need facts in order to build creativity. We have to start with previous knowledge which means facts are important since they come first.

I LOVE the video. Facts are important, but we don't need to memorize them. Some will be remembered simply because they matter to us...we find them interesting. But we don't NEED to memorize facts. If we need to know something, within minutes we can find the information.

@Dina. @Anon-Thanks for the comments.I am getting an idea for another post.On facts of course and what exactly is it that we need to know.
I welcome your input.

Loved this - loved everything about it. As a homeschooling mom in NYC, I couldn't agree more. Where is the challenge? Where is the excitement? Teaching kids HOW to find facts is a much more valuable lesson than having them memorize facts in order to pass a test... because, let's be honest... once tests are over, lots of facts held in memory simply fade away. I am passing this video on. Thanks for posting it!

You guys are great. Unschooling the new culture of learning-school is medival. But try getting those in power to understand As for the majority of parents-they are either so brainwashed by the system or so tired, they can't think striaight.
