My first thought: "I want to live here!"
On second thought we decided that we need more car free "islands" in our cities.
The lack of cars, and the resultant scale of development (walkable, narrow lanes, no vast parking lots) as well as the sense of safety, community and natural beauty, is an astonishing accomplishment.
Cars do so much damage to a community's quality of life - and it takes this magical place (toronto island) to prove it by providing a living example.
